Tiny Forest Community Monitoring Day at Mutton Brook, Barnet - Part 2

Earthwatch are returning to the FOUR Tiny Forests in Button Brook.. Come and take part in some active monitoring and discussion with us!
About this Event

We'd love for you to come and join us so together we can understand more about the environmental and social benefits that the four distinct Tiny Forests bring to the community here in Mutton Brook.

Earthwatch invites you to attend as much or as little of these two monitoring days as you can and want.

It is family-friendly and a free event!

With the help of you - who can partake as citizen scientists - we are monitoring five key benefits across a handful of our 300+ Forests across the UK. Specifically looking at how the forests change over time and how they differ per location.

We are researching:

• Thermal comfort: the cooling benefits of the trees

• Flood management: the forest’s ability to store water

• Biodiversity: focussing on butterflies, pollinators and soil-dwelling organisms

• Carbon capture: how much carbon a Tiny Forest sequesters and stores

• Wellbeing: conducting social surveys with volunteers

So please come along for an hour or more, enjoy some time immersed in nature and take part in hands-on research.

There will be light refreshments but please come prepared for the weather.

Outdoor shoes and clothing are advised. If you have gardening gloves please bring these with you too. Please also bring a phone or tablet along with you in order to use our online science surveys.
