Presenting immortal songs of Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle
By Hrishikesh Ranade, Sharayu Date & group
This thematic presentation has been designed to enable uninitiated listeners to appreciate the rich legacy of ragas in Hindustani music by associating a particular raga with a corresponding film song based on it.
Hrishikesh Ranade, son of well-known Marathi singer Pramod Ranade, received training in music with Vijay Koparkar and Shekhar Kumbhojkar. A playback singer in the Marathi film industry, he has also sung in Hindi, Konkani and other Indian languages. Having won Idea Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Maharashtracha Ajacha Awaaj, he went on to receive prestigious awards like the Maharashtra State Film Award, Filmfare Award and Zee Chitra Gaurav Puraskar for best playback singing.
Initiated into music by her mother, Sharayu Date later trained with Arati Ankalikar Tikekar and is currently a disciple of Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande. She is equally at ease with diverse genres like classical (art) music, Marathi natyasangeet and other light forms like ghazal, bhavgeet and bhaktigeet. Besides having sung for award-winning films and TV serials, she has to her credit several accolades and public performances in India and overseas.
At this event, Ranade and Date will present select raga-based songs immortalised by four iconic singers—Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. They will be supported by a group of musicians and anchor Amit Kakade.
