BONUS: the museum will offer FREE ADMISSION JUNE 18 to kick off our Time Travelers season! Johnson County Library will also offer free admission on the final date, August 8 to anyone with their library card! Visit https://www.jocolibrary.org/ for details.
June 18 and 20 • Juneteenth
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in our nation, but it was only a first step toward real equality. Visit the 1920s town to explore the accomplishments and challenges for African–Americans during the Jim Crow Era. Celebrate in town square at 11:30am with ice cream and lawn games!
June 25 and 27 • Keep It Clean
Time for summer cleaning on the farm! Let’s grab a bucket and wash the family car, vacuum the house, and get those vegetables washed for market. Don’t forget the laundry!
July 2 • It's Party Time!
It’s time to get ready for Shawnee’s 1929 annual Independence Day celebration! Practice for the potato sack races, rehearse patriotic songs, and make decorations for the town. Families are encouraged to dress in American colors and bring a picnic!
July 9 and 11 • Animal Farm
Learn about animal life on a Shawnee truck farm as we care for our farm’s residents! Feed the chickens and visit with sheep, goats, and the milking cow, guarded by the friendly family dog.
July 16 and 18 • Family Vacation
Take the family camping, 1920s style! Explore a real Auto Tent and campsite, take a car ride around town, and learn campfire songs in the square.
July 23 and 25 • Life on a Truck Farm
It’s the busy season on the farm! Time to harvest and wash the vegetables, hang laundry, and make lunch in the farm kitchen.
July 30 and August 1 • Get a Job
Do you want to be a teacher, a barber, or maybe the town sheriff? Start a grocery business? Run a blacksmith forge? Explore the town and which job might fit you!
August 6 and 8 • Fun on the Farm
Enjoy the last days of summer with some farm-fresh treats at the farm – after you finish your farm chores!
Guided Tours will not be available during program times. General visitors are encouraged to self–guide and talk with staff and volunteers throughout the program area.
