About this Event
Overview:
The Tiger Course is designed specifically for nurses, technologists, physician assistants and residents who wish to develop their talents to provide comprehensive and cutting-edge team-based patient care in interventional radiology (IR). This single day event features instruction from physicians and industry partners to provide both didactic and hands-on training. This course will focus directly on complicated cases that IR teams encounter often in their practice. There will be three moderated sessions, which will include two cases per session presented by individual speakers.
Sessions and cases for this course are noted below.
Session One
• Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) Filter Retrieval - Hector Ferral, MD
• Cryoablation of Tumors - Why & When? - Bahri Ustunsoz, MD
Session Two
• Stroke - Paul Gulotta, MD
• Embolization in Trauma – Dan Laney, MD
Session Three
• Portal Vein Interventions - Ahmad Mubarak, MD
• Management of Pelvic Pain – Alexandra Fairchild, MD
Objectives:
By the end of each presentation, the audience will have knowledge of how to identify and properly handle the presented complications. The main take away from each session is to ensure that all learners can better recognize complications and help the IR team to have better results during the course of each procedure. In addition, they will better recognize which IR tools should be used for each procedure. Our main objective is to educate IR team members, so that the team can function effectively.
Upon completion of the educational activity, the participant shall be able to:
Gain increased knowledge of interventional radiology (IR) practice and morbidity and mortality complications in vascular, non-vascular, and surgical procedures.
Identify and appropriately intervene in the presented interventional radiology complications.
Identify the appropriate IR instrument(s) to assist the IR team to achieve optimal results when issues arise.
