This is an ideal workshop for anyone who is working as a literacy intervention teacher, wanting to start an intervention programme, SENCO’s, RTLits, RTLB’s, tutors or teachers interested in lifting their practice to the next level.

The event will take place in person at Central Normal School, so come ready to learn and collaborate with fellow educators. In this one-day course, I share what I have learned in the past 9 years using a Structured Literacy approach with my intervention students. Together, we will explore evidence based practices built on the Science of Reading and Learning. This is a highly practical course that builds on the teacher’s prior knowledge of the theory behind Structured Literacy.

What is covered:

· How to set up an intervention programme (we go through what it looks like and what is needed to run an effective programme)

· How to build fluency and comprehension

· How to get students encoding and decoding accurately

· Learn how to move reluctant readers

· See a Structured Literacy Intervention lesson being modelled

· Explore resources that reinforce learning

· Q&A - Ask me those questions that help you with your situation

MORNING TEA IS PROVIDED, BUT PLEASE BRING YOUR LUNCH. There are options to purchase lunch within walking distance of the venue.
