Bay Area native recording artist and songwriter, thủy, is setting herself apart in today’s pop R&B scene. Raised with a rich Vietnamese heritage thủy grew up inspired by early 2000s pop and R&B idols like Britney Spears, Brandy, and Mariah Carey. In 2021, thủy emerged onto the mainstream stage with her debut EP i hope u see this and its breakout single, “universe”. In 2022, she followed up with her sophomore EP, ‘girls like me don’t cry’, and won the hearts of fans worldwide.
thủy has carved out a space for herself both within and beyond the community of self-made Asian-American musical artists that have emerged in the streaming era and continues to cement her name on the global stage. This year, thủy made history as the first ever Vietnamese American artist to be on the official Coachella bill. With her latest project, ‘wings’, thủy more than proves that her star quality has staying power and that her celestial voice, unrivaled songwriting, and knack for earworm melodies was here to stay. Pushing herself sonically, ‘wings’ gives a glimpse into the new era of “thủy” as she is poised to further solidify her name in today’s pop culture.
