Welcome to Jazz Jam at the Market! We’ll gather every Thursday at 7 to play jazz together and cultivate local jazz players both young and old. Although we have a core group of seasoned jazz veterans, we welcome newcomers to our jam.If you’d like to sit in, you should be comfortable reading from jazz charts and have at least a basic foundation in jazz theory. No need to be a seasoned pro, just a willingness to learn and grow alongside other musicians.
What to bring: your Real Book or specific jazz chart, and (duh!) your instrument. We’ll have guitar and bass amps on hand, as well as a drum set and electric keyboard.
We’ll rotate players to make sure everyone gets time on the bandstand. Come by at 7, or a little before, and let’s make some music.
A quick note: This is a jazz jam, not a blues jam or open mic. We appreciate your understanding, as there are plenty of opportunities around town for the other types of music.
