Thriving at GU: Sustainability 101 provides Georgetown employees with an overview of what sustainability is, Georgetown’s sustainability efforts, and everyday actions employees can take to reduce environmental impact. The course includes valuable information and resources that will enable faculty and staff to implement sustainable ways of being.
*This special in-person session will be 1.5 hours and will be a lunch and learn. Please meet at the Arrupe Multipurpose Room on the Hilltop Campus. Catering will be provided*
Everyone is welcome in Sustainability 101. The 60-minute class is designed for faculty and staff with any range of knowledge of sustainability. This session expounds upon Georgetown’s value to care for our common home. It also provides an overview of university-wide sustainability programs and practical guidance on how employees can adopt sustainable practices at work and home. Participants will leave with a foundation in sustainability and resources for further engagement and learning.
Topics covered include:
*Introduction to sustainability
*The Office of Sustainability’s mission and programs
*Georgetown’s sustainability partnerships and commitments
*An introduction to Georgetown’s Laudato Si’ Action Plan
*Easy to implement sustainability solutions and resources
The course will be presented by Georgetown’s Office of Sustainability. A presentation will be given for the first 45 minutes and the last 15 minutes will be reserved for Q&A. Registration is open to Georgetown University employees.
