Thrive & Survive: Book Launch & Survivor Support• When: Thursday, Dec 13, 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM
• Where: Fountaindale Public Library (Bolingbrook, IL) – Room C (2nd floor)
• What: Launch of Pat Green’s new novel Hearts of Glass: Fade Away and Radiate (second in the series) and introduction of the THRIVE Survivor Initiative (a trauma-informed creative arts program for survivors)
• Authors: Pat Green (Hearts of Glass series) and Alexa Charecky (author of Buford’s Purposeful Day)
• Activities:
• Short author readings & Q&A
• Creative breakout sessions (art, writing, music) led by trauma-informed facilitators (including Beacon of Hope & Healing, Guardian Angel, and others)
• Optional story-sharing circle (for those who wish to share)
• Book Donations: Buy 1 book for survivors and we donate 2 books to survivors in various local shelters that will be at the event.
• Support: On-site nurse and trauma expert ensure a safe, supportive space

Pat Green (author of the Hearts of Glass series) and Alexa Charecky (author of Buford’s Purposeful Day) will speak about their work and inspirations. “Hearts of Glass: Fade Away and Radiate is a fierce, heart-wrenching story set to an 80s soundtrack,” says Green. “But at its core it’s about trauma, friendship, and hope. I wrote this for anyone who’s ever felt broken — you are not alone, and there is light after the dark.”
The new THRIVE Survivor Initiative uses art, writing, and music to help survivors heal and find strength. Led by trauma-informed organizations like Beacon of Hope & Healing and Guardian Angel, the initiative’s creative workshops give participants a safe space to express their stories.
Event Format: The afternoon will feature brief readings by the authors, followed by a moderated Q&A. Attendees can then join breakout sessions led by trauma-informed facilitators — including art, writing, and music workshops designed to encourage healing through creativity. An optional sharing circle will be available for those who wish to speak about their experiences. A registered nurse and trauma counselor will be on hand to ensure everyone feels supported.
