Thorpey’s Bat and Chat - Surrey
About this Event
We’re excited to launch Thorpey’s Bat and Chat, a new Cricket‑Wellbeing programme in partnership with Surrey Cricket Club, hosted at Guildford Cricket Ground.
⚠️ Trigger Warning: This programme references suicide.
If you’re looking for fun, low‑pressure cricket activities paired with relaxed, supportive conversations about mental health and wellbeing, we’d love to see you there.
The programme has been made possible thanks to our partners at Surrey County Cricket Club and funds raised at A Day for Thorpey, a Mind event held in memory of Graham Thorpe, who died by suicide after experiencing depression and anxiety. Honouring Graham’s life in this way helps us create welcoming spaces where people feel less alone and more supported.
Amanda Thorpe, wife of Graham, said: "We are so pleased to see the roll-out of Thorpey’s Bat and Chat sessions around the country and would really encourage you to give it a go if you’re struggling with your mental health.”
Ten sessions will take place at Guildford Cricket Ground every Monday from 20th July, 9.30 - 11.30am. Open to anyone aged 18+.
Each week will include a fun, cricket-based activity, followed by a supportive conversation about mental health and wellbeing. We will focus on a different mental health or mindfulness topic each week, and you can book onto as many of the sessions as you'd like. The full programme is below.
