Thomas Feng (DMA candidate, Performance Practice) performs the evening-length Ave Verum by late experimentalist Tui St. George Tucker, in commemoration of her upcoming centenary. A contrapuntal tour-de-force, Ave Verum unfolds in three large parts, interweaving an ambitious set of variations on an original hymn with traditional chorales and Jazz-Age Broadway songs – a tapestry-like microcosm of Tucker's unique musical world.
