The Thomas Edison Film Festival (TEFF) and the Mahwah Public Library is proud to present a program of three award-winning documentary films from the TEFF’s 2025 touring collection. “R.E.S.C.U.E” by Keenan Ferguson and Martha McGuinness, “Meko” by Harrison Buck, and “MEVO: From Farm to Feast” by Bryan Huth and Catherine “Kate” Baxley.TEFF is pleased to welcome Violet Reed, Executive Director of MEVO; Bryan Huth, filmmaker and director of “MEVO: From Farm to Feast; and Catherine “Kate” Baxley, producer of “MEVO: From Farm to Feast” and MEVO board member. TEFF director Jane Steuerwald will lead a discussion, open to all, immediately following the films.
About the Films:
“R.E.S.C.U.E.” is a film about resilience, hope, and triumph in the fight to protect a species and to empower women and their communities. The film gives viewers a behind-the-scenes view of the groundbreaking work of the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary and The Sarara Foundation in Northern Kenya. It is an inspiring example of what is possible in the realm of community-led conservation.
“Meko” is an in-depth look into the macro-effects of climate change on delicate coastal communities like the Bahamas Outer Islands through the lens of legacy fly-fishing guide and angler Omeko “Meko” Glinton. It is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and how fly fishing might be the key to a sustainable future in the Bahamas Outer Islands.
“MEVO: From Farm to Feast” features the youth-led farmers of MEVO - the Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization, Inc. - located at Campgaw Reservation in Mahwah, NJ. Part of MEVO’s mission is to build grassroots momentum for the environmental movement within local communities and to inspire individuals to create long-term change within their communities. In this inspiring film, we are taken on a tour of the land and learn how MEVO volunteers reach their local community by hosting an annual farm-to-table gala on site at the Campgaw Reservation. MEVO goes above and beyond traditional environmental organizations by training youth to become environmental leaders and change agents.
This event is free to the public, but registration is required.
