This Shining Night

The Durban Chamber Choir presents a carefully curated programme of music from Renaissance masters to modern jazz standards; Scandinavian composers to traditional isiZulu songs.
Highlights include the accessible Ave Verum Corpus from Jenkins and the Sanctus by Sandström - almost plainchant in a manner reminiscent of a body of sacred, unaccompanied vocal music used in the liturgies of the Western and Eastern Christian churches. Setting the tone for the afternoon is Barber’s lyrical neo-Romantic art song, “Sure on this Shining Night”.
Joining the DCC as a special guest is Yosuke Matsui, principal trumpeter at the KZN Philharmonic.
