The Heart of This Lady Will

When I think about the This Lady Will Women’s Mentorship Conference, I see my younger self. Some years ago, when I looked at women in law, or even just women who were considered “successful,” their lives felt far away and almost unreachable. I did not have anyone I could truly look up to in my field, someone I could relate to, someone whose story told me, You can do this too.

That is the real drive behind this conference. It is for the younger me and for every young woman who is still in the process of her becoming. Because becoming is a journey, not a final destination. Success is not just in the polished celebratory moments we see on social media or hear about in the news.

Too often, our media spaces are filled with narratives that seem quick and easy, sometimes even by those who took shortcuts. But real, lasting success often comes with moments of heartbreak, grief, self-doubt and imposter syndrome. These are parts of the story we rarely hear.

At This Lady Will, we are creating a space where women can share the real journeys behind their success—the failures, the near misses, the heartbreaks, the doubts and the moments that almost broke them but ultimately shaped them. We want every young woman to leave knowing she is not alone, that her challenges do not disqualify her, and that her dreams are still within reach if she keeps pushing.

This is not about idolising “finished” success stories. This is about nurturing, enriching and mentoring young women so that they know: if she could rise above it, so can I.
