This Is Me: Book Launch

Please join us to celebrate the launch of This Is Me, a collaborative play by Safety4Sisters writing groups made up of migrant women survivors of gender-based violence. This Is Me charts Ava’s journey as she seeks safety, security and agency in her life. It explores the connections between Ava and other migrant survivors with no recourse to public funds. The play is a mixture of verbatim writing, poetry and song. It shines a light on structural injustices, racism and abandonment they experience. It charts the resilience, faith, joy, resistance and solidarity that permeates the characters lives. This launch will showcase the powerful work of the writing group, providing an opportunity for us to unite in our shared struggles, the demand to be heard and the insistence that the rights of the women of Safety4Sisters and all migrant women survivors are as important as the rights of all women and human beings.
