Thirsty Minds – July 2026
About this Event
Thirsty Minds is networking that doesn't feel like networking. No awkwardness. No cliques. Just an open, welcoming environment for curious professionals to learn about different subjects and create real connections with real people.
July's Topic
Sticky Speaking: Close the Gap Between Talking & Landing
with Dr. Richard Pineda
Dr. Richard Pineda has spent his career studying how people actually get heard. A former competitive debater, he went on to lead the Department of Communication at UTEP for over two decades before recently being named Director of the Liza and Jack Lewis Center of the Americas at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). Along the way, he designed and led the revitalized Leadership El Paso program for the El Paso Chamber, builst specifically to develop the region's next generation of leaders.
At this month's Thirsty Minds, he's bringing that same thinking to us. This talk isn't about public speaking tips or leadership platitudes. It's about the real mechanics of persuasion: how to build an argument people actually want to follow, howe to read a room, and how the way you communicate might be the biggest untapped lever in your career.
Bring your questions. Bring a colleague who talks too much in meetings, or one who doesn't talk enough. Grab a drink and food, meet some new people, and leave with something you can use tomorrow.
