The public’s collective impression of Chiayi City is “an elegant wood city with a century of Japanese charm and a relaxed, contented atmosphere”. In recent years, power stemming from the location itself and the government has been injected into Chiayi’s urban veins, setting changes in motion and forging Chiayi City’s “chill” nature.
“Chill” means daring to be oneself and maintaining a sincere attitude toward life—this is the essence of Chiayi City’s unique “chill” trend. This spirit has infused the city with even more soul and transformed Chiayi City’s traditional style into something completely new.

Octa - Global Trading Made Clear by Joao Manoel Machado, Henrique Bueno Ribas Ribeiro, and Eduardo Pereira Lubiazi
UAE
Short Commercial
"OCTA, an online trading platform, noticed a significant drop in users.
"Preliminary interviews showed that after a hiatus in global fin-tech, people showed demand for security, like licensing with the regulators or opening registered local offices.
"However, after a research phase, we’ve uncovered that the whole product category was experiencing a crisis of faith. A crisis that opening a few offices would hardly fix.
"We’ve created a fake ‘financian’ language for the characters. The properties of the language resemble something that can be identified as words and sentences, but makes no sense.
"We snowballed the insight of confusion in 9 countries to then reveal a solution.
"A brand that understands your frustration and gives you comfort. Something user-friendly. A way to see trading becoming clearer.
"The campaign was planned to roll out all around the globe, so we’ve adapted it with appropriate casting."

Untouched by Michel Pavlou
Norway 2023
Short Experimental
"We only have consistency within other’s reach."
The comings and goings of travellers in a station concourse.
The opposing viewpoints, then superimposed in post-production, create a 'crystalline' (to borrow the Deleuzian term) presentation of the environment. The B&W images, combined with the brief appearances of the colour characters, those frozen in the middle of a moving crowd and the narrative of the voice-over poem, contribute to its multiple temporal nature.
