Thinning The Veil

Step into the rich cultural roots of Halloween with the Helsinki Harps Folk Group on October 31st. This live performance will transport you to the ancient Irish festival of Samhain, where folklore, haunting melodies, and pre-Christian traditions come to life.

Set against the backdrop of Merirasti Kulttuuritila in Rastila, Helsinki, the evening will feature traditional Irish folk music, a bit of craic, and a traditional Strawboy performance —an Irish ritual where costumed messers enterain guests. During Halloween, they symbolize the blurred boundary between the living and dead, marking transitions from old to new.

This is not your typical Halloween event. Forget plastic masks and pumpkins—prepare to be captivated by the sometimes raw but always organic spirit of Irish culture heritage.
