Mushrooms?
I am thinking of them all the time
How they are everywhere around us
Spores In the air
Mycelium growing in the grounds where we walk
On our food, in our homes
They can K*ll us, they can heal us, they can become a delicious meal and they can make us meet God
They are breaking down materials. Sometimes destroying our homes; sometimes to make new life possible
A full cycle

“Thinking of fungi” is an installation where mushrooms will grow from a rag rug woven out of the artist’s worn-out clothes over the time span of a week. Twice a day Malin will come by the gallery to water the mushrooms. If you are lucky you will pass by when it happens. Or just notice if the mushrooms have grown. Eventually the mushrooms will break down the rug, letting it become something else.

Bio
Malin (she/ her) b. 1998, is a Norwegian artist exploring themes such as our relationship with nature, climate change and hopes for the future. She wants us to notice the wonders in life and in nature; to see what a beautiful planet we live on and how fragile everything can be.
