Driven to understand global markets, Blum became an expert in international exchanges and was invited to join Caldwell Financial—an investment firm with strategic partnerships in 27 countries. Though not the first woman to buy a seat on the New York Stock Exchange, she recalls, with a laugh, getting lost on her first day trying to find the ladies’ room—only to be told she had to walk through a “phone booth” to reach it.

After retiring, Blum turned her attention to a new mission: empowering women financially. She co-authored Think Rich! Get Rich! Stay Rich! to help women take control of their financial futures.

“That’s one of my causes,” Blum explains. “I see so many bright, professional women who are earning good money and have strong careers, but they’re not investing. Or worse, they’re outsourcing it to their partner, uncle, or father. I’m very much against that.”
