Think Like an Entrepreneur: Exploring the Entrepreneurial Mindset

What does it take to think like an entrepreneur? This four-week series is part book club, part guided conversation. Facilitated by Cherese Spand, these sessions are built for anyone curious about entrepreneurship, whether you're weighing a business idea or just want to build a more resilient, opportunity-seeking mindset.

Each week, we'll dig into Who Owns the Ice House? 8 Life Lessons from an Unlikely Entrepreneur, using its lessons as a jumping-off point for discussion. Along the way, local entrepreneurs will join us as guest speakers to share what lessons and mindsets they’ve used in their own ventures. On our final night, we'll shift from mindset to mechanics: a representative from Mecklenburg Economic Development will walk us through the fundamentals of formally starting a business.

About the Instructor: Cherese L. Spand has been an entrepreneurship mindset educator with the Hurt Hub since 2024. She draws on her 20+ years of experience as a business owner to help guide and inspire community members thinking about entrepreneurship. Cherese is the founder of SHE Wealth - Savvy, Healthy & Empowered, where she specializes in helping women and women in business make empowered financial decisions. Cherese is an active member of the Lake Norman community, having served on multiple local non-profit boards and committees as a strategic leader and advocate.
