Things That Aren’t There Anymore: A Tour of LA’s Vanished Places with Adam Papagan

Join us for another unique and exciting presentation by Adam Papagan in the Philosophical Research Society Auditorium!

Los Angeles is called the “City of Tomorrow,” a place defined by its relentless push toward the new. But in this constant cycle of reinvention, what gets left behind? Join us for “Things That Aren’t There Anymore: A Tour of LA’s Vanished Places”, an explorative journey through the landmarks, public spaces, and beloved restaurants that, in their moment, defined the city. From the legendary Bunker Hill to the more recently departed Hollywood Center Motel, revisit all your favorites again through the power of collective memory. Author Adam Papagan (Behind The Scenes in Los Angeles) has combed through hundreds of old books and talked to locals across generations to bring you a fresh take on the places that have disappeared from the map but not from our hearts. Join us for a night of storytelling, nostalgia, and time travel.

Adam Papagan’s work examines the intersection of history, pop culture, and entertainment. He has served as curator of The O.J. Museum, creator of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Tour and The Curb Your Enthusiasm Tour, co-host of the web series Dead in Hollywood, and has produced programs that have aired on community television stations nationwide. His new guidebook “Behind The Scenes in Los Angeles: A Pop Culture History Tour” draws on his decades plus experience as a Los Angeles tour guide.
