Greta Wilhelm’s soy wax candles in reusable vessels bring warmth and beauty to shorter days—ideal for creating a cozy atmosphere on Valentine's Day or enhancing your home or work space year-round. You’ll also discover local bakery Twisted Treats’ handcrafted confections that add a touch of delight to every celebration.

See what's new at Open to Being, meet Vera (our 1910 letterpress) and Minerva (a new press addition!), and shop greeting cards, journals, and art prints that celebrate love all year long. You’ll also find Blackwing pencils and accessories, along with handmade gifts from woman-owned businesses.

February invites us to celebrate love, care, and togetherness. Everything in the shop this month represents the finest in kind connections, from letterpress greeting cards to candles and sweets to stationery totes and pencils. Take time to talk with our guest makers, Greta and Mizan, and talk with Theresa about letterpress process or taking a workshop. Our warm, cozy space is just the right vibe for slowing down with kindred spirits. Bring a loved one or two or three!

And because February 7 is National Send a Card to a Friend Day, we'll mail your cards for you when you purchase card + stamp in the shop—just write your note and drop it in our vintage mailbox.

Founder Theresa Esterlund opened a letterpress studio + shop in Arlington Ridge neighborhood of Arlington, VA in April 2025. This working studio includes a boutique retail destination open for special shopping events and showcasing Open to Being products as well as a curated collection of handcrafted goods from local makers. A highlight of the studio is our 1910 treadle-operated Chandler & Price platen letterpress.

Our Arlington letterpress shop is open to the public exclusively during these seasonal shopping events. Also open by appointment.
