Therapeutic Drumming and Music (7 yrs+)
About this Event
Join TVCC and Connections Music Therapy for this exciting drumming and music therapy program!
on participants will be guided through various activities using drums and other musical instruments, as well as music-inspired group activities such as crafts, games, singing dancing, and more. Led by Jess Dickie, Music Therapist and Owner of Connections Music Therapy, this program will utilize facets of music therapy and expressive arts to encourage creativity, social wellness, and self-confidence.
Through this program, participants will:
- Engage in physical activity including drumming and dancing
- Boost their self-confidence through creative expression
- Practice social skills through turn taking, group activities, and new friendships
- Learn drumming, music and rhythm skills
Participant Criteria:
- TVCC clients and their siblings ages 7 yrs +, or eligible to register as a client
- Interest and willingness to participate in the activities with peers
- Able to participate safely in group activities with1:4 staff to client ratio; participants are welcome to have a support person present to assist them
- Able to remain in a group setting for the duration of the program (i.e. does not require frequent breaks outside of room/group; remains with group; tolerates others in their space)
- Does not engage in behaviours that are harmful or dangerous to themselves or others
- Has a reliable method of communicating their wants and needs
- Does not require individuals behaviour programming
