The Virgin Mary as a Shared Figure? A Christian-Muslim Dialogue
About this Event

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED

Please join us for a Theotokos Lecture by Dr. Rita George-Tvrtković followed by a response from Marquette professor Dr. Irfan Omar, and further dialogue.

The Vatican II document Nostra Aetate acknowledges that Christians and Muslims share belief in, and devotion to, the Virgin Mary. But did Christians always view Mary as a shared figure between the two religions? This lecture will consider where, when, and how Mary has been used to connect or divide Christians and Muslims.

Co-presented with Marquette University’s Theology Department

Sponsored by Lilly Endowment Inc.
