Theory of Color
About this Event
Theory of Color
What is color—and why does it look different depending on what surrounds it?
Join artist and curator Roya Chadab for an engaging introduction to the theory of color, exploring the fascinating relationship between light, perception, and artistic expression.
Through iconic works by artists including Monet, Seurat, Rothko, and Kandinsky, as well as Roya’s own color studies from Smith College, we’ll explore how artists use hue, value, saturation, contrast, harmony, and color relationships to shape what we see and how we experience an image.
This is a visual and interactive session designed for artists, art lovers, and anyone curious about learning to see color differently.
No prior knowledge of color theory is required.
