Themed Figure Drawing Session: Ghostly Apparition
About this Event
Join Maggie Tseng for a 3-hour, ghostly apparition themed live figure drawing session. Throughout the session, you’ll draw the figure across layers of translucent paper that we will be providing (tracing paper), using each new sheet to capture the body’s next position in motion. As the drawings accumulate, previous poses remain visible beneath the next.
The evening will move through three stages of poses:
- Short poses (2–5 minutes)
- Medium poses (5–15 minutes)
- Short poses (2–5 minutes)
There will be a 10-minute break between each stage. This session is uninstructed—artists of all skill levels are welcome. This structure is designed to create a sequence that can be scanned or photographed frame-by-frame and animated into a ghostly figure that fades in the the beginning and fades out at the end.
Please feel free to bring your own translucent materials—vellum, Yupo, acetate, drafting film, or anything else you’d like to experiment with.
This event is part of It Figures Drawing Club, a weekly 3-hour live figure drawing series featuring themed poses in a welcoming, low-pressure space. Sessions take place every other Wednesdays and are hosted by Maggie Tseng.
