About this Event
An exciting day of Grip Sport Competition at York Barbells legendary stage at The Weight Lifting Hall of Fame in York PA.
This traditional grip strength competition will feature 4 lifts from historic feats preformed by some of the greatest strength showman idolized in the Hall of Fame.
Apollons Axle (Apollon the Mighty, French strongman)
3" Saxon (Designed in honor of Arthur Saxon "The Iron Master", German strongman)
The Hub lift (A classic feat of strength started by lifting a York Barbell deep dish 45# plate by the hub, Steve Stanko could preform this with relative ease with 10# added to the 45# plate)
The Little Big Horn (a historic feat preformed by blacksmiths and made popular by George Jowett in "The Key to Might and Muscle")
These lifts will be preformed in the last man standing style where you may take as many weight jumps as you wish but when you miss a weight you are out for that lift.
The Hub and Little Big Horn will be a 6" lift to a cross bar as lockout for implement lifts are hard to judge.
Awards will be given for top three overall for men and women and depending on the size of the group there will be weightclass awards as well.
I encourage anyone interested in grip strength and grip sport to come out and try. There will be plenty of people there to help out any novices or first timers as I know this to be among the friendliest of lifting communities.
