The Yoga of Music with Sitarist John Protopapas
A Soundwise Encore Presentation
About this Event
A beautiful music meditation through Indian music with the incomparable sitar master John Protopapas. This is another Soundwise Encore Presentation that has sold out in previous times. This is John's fifth time in our beautiful, serene Soundwise sanctuary and you don't want to hesitate to get your tickets sooner rather than later.
John Protopapas is a respected sitarist and world music artist known for his mastery of Indian ragas, live performances, and community engagement, with recent appearances in Lancaster, PA.
Artistic Background
John Protopapas has been deeply immersed in the study and practice of yoga for over 30 years, a journey that began with early encounters with Sanyasis (monks from India) and later study in Greece and India . His musical career centers on classical Indian sitar performance, often accompanied by tabla.
He teaches a World Music course at York College and has also been involved in yoga therapy programs for at‑risk youth YouTube. His performances blend traditional ragas with educational elements, often including brief teachings about the ragas before the music begins.
