The Writing Room @ Hotel du Vin ~ September 2026
About this Event
Creative writing doesn't need to be a solo activity. Whether you’re a seasoned writer, just starting, or simply looking for a creative outlet, The Writing Room is open to all.
Each month, we bring together local people with an interest in creative writing for a shared in-person creative experience.
Each time you join us in The Writing Room, you will:
- Gain insights from a featured speaker
- Receive an inspiring writing prompt for you to approach as you wish
- Have space to socialise and share your creations with other writers
The Writing Room in Poole can be found within the Crow's Nest area of a Grade II-listed Georgian merchant's house, now home to the Hotel du Vin. This setting perfectly balances beauty and comfort, providing a nurturing environment for writing.
All attendees receive a complementary welcome drink on arrival, and can also enjoy 10% off any additional food an drink over the course of the evening.
September’s featured guest is Abby G Poetree.
Abby is a poet & environmentalist and has written poetry since her teens. Actively involved and performing in the poetry scene for 10 years, she hosts the well-established poetry open mic in Bournemouth called ‘The Platform’. She was commissioned to organise events such as the ‘Festival of Words’ at Cranborne Chase AONB and the ‘Festival of Blossom’ at Kingston Lacy. Abby opened the spoken word event at the ‘Increase the Peace Festival’ in Boscombe with a speech and hosts poetry workshops at the Russell-Cotes Museum, Bournemouth. Her career in nature conservation has taken her to many beautiful places including Brownsea Island where she spent 16 years as Warden.
Please Note: During this session, Abby has requested that mobile phones be switched off or put on aeroplane mode while inside the Crow's Nest room.
