Celebrate National Poetry Month with poets Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, Sadie Dupuis, and Omar Holmon on Thursday, April 17th at 6pm!
About this Event

We are proud to introduce The Write Stuff, a new series at Barnes & Noble Philadelphia created for aspiring authors looking to learn more about navigating the route from writing to publication. The Write Stuff provides advice for writers on a wide range of topics including general writing tips, writing for various genres, finding an agent and getting your work published.

Philadelphia poets Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, Sadie Dupuis, and Omar Holmon will discuss the craft of poetry, take questions from the audience, and read some of their own works in this installment of the Write Stuff celebrating National Poetry Month!

About Our Poets

Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz is a New York Times best-selling author and poet whose work has earned fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts, the University of Pennsylvania, the Amy Clampitt House, and Hedgebrook. Her previous books include the poetry collections How to Love the Empty Air and The Year of No Mistakes, and the nonfiction book, Dr Mutter's Marvels: A True Tale of Intrigue and Innovation at the Dawn of Modern Medicine. When not on tour, she splits her time between Austin, TX, and Philadelphia, PA.

Sadie Dupuis is the guitarist, songwriter & singer of rock band Speedy Ortiz, as well as the producer & multi-instrumentalist behind pop project Sad13. Sadie heads the record label Wax Nine, edits its poetry journal, and is a regular contributor to Spin, Tape Op, Talkhouse, and more. She holds an MFA in poetry from UMass Amherst, where she also taught writing. Mouthguard, her first book, was published in 2018 (Gramma); Cry Perfume, a second poetry collection, was released in 2022 (Black Ocean). She is an organizer with United Musicians & Allied Workers and its local UMAW Philly.

Omar Holmon is a culture critic, performer, internet archaeologist, and known for co-founding the popular website Black Nerd Problems. He is co-author of 'Black Nerd Problems: Essays' collection and author of 'We Were All Someone Else Yesterday' poetry collection. There's nothing Omar loves more than writing essays / creating content about niche and obscure moments in pop culture across all genres. From comic books and anime to movies and television shows you should be watching, Omar has bars for them all in person and online.
