The Founding Dataset Captures Real-Time Physiological Signals From Participants in 150 Countries, Offering a New Evidence-Based Measure of Collective Peace 

Participants’ Average Peace Alignment Score Rose From 50 to 80 During a Global Moment of Peace, Demonstrating the Potential of Continuous Biometric and Emotional Data to Provide a New Lens Into the Emotional Health of the World 

On September 22, 2026, the first findings of the Biometric Global Peace Index will be unveiled alongside the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, drawing on what may be the largest real-time dataset of the human nervous system ever captured. Nicole Gibson, Founder and CEO of IN TRUTH, the world's first biometric emotion detection system, will present the findings, joined by other research, philanthropic and civil society partners. 

For centuries, peace has been measured solely by what is absent: war, conflict, violence. The world’s first Biometric Global Peace Index reveals that peace can be measured by what is happening inside the human body, offering a new window into our collective well-being. The data reveals that, at scale, physiological co-regulation took place, capturing how populations can influence one another and become a force for peace, as well as hold governments and institutions to account for their role in supporting human well-being.

WHAT:

A presentation of the first findings of the Biometric Global Peace Index, the world's first physiological measure of peace, as well as a new global research foundation, its first philanthropic endowment, and new partnerships across sport, media and civil society.

On August 8, 2026, populations in 150 countries took part in the Global Peace Activation, a single synchronized experience of collective peace anchored by a 24-hour global livestream. Participants wearing consumer devices such as Garmin and Whoop connected through the IN TRUTH app, contributing their physiological signals to a shared, consent-based research effort.

The resulting Biometric Global Peace Index puts a new data point into the global conversation: the human being. 

Alongside GDP, conflict counts and geopolitical indicators — the metrics that have long defined how the world understands itself — this is the first evidence that what is happening inside individual bodies, at scale, can be measured, too. During the Global Peace Activation, participants’ average Peace Alignment Score rose from an ordinary-day 50 to 80 — a first glimpse of what it looks like when the emotional state of a population becomes as trackable as its economy. The Biometric Global Peace Index opens the possibility of a future in which this new form of evidence becomes a standard against which institutions and governments can be measured, enhancing the Institute for Economics & Peace’s Global Peace Index.

The findings have already begun to expand their influence, as Gibson was invited to present them to the Magnifica Humanitas Foundation at the Vatican. 

Looking ahead to the scientific work that could build on this proof of concept, Adam Gazzalay, MD, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Neurology, Physiology, and Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Founder and Executive Director of Neuroscape, a translational neuroscience research center, said: “We’re excited about the opportunity to work with the IN TRUTH team to bring scientific rigor to the study of internal states such as peace — how they might be objectively measured, what underlying processes they reflect, and how they may shape our interactions with others. As wearable technologies evolve, there is a timely opportunity to move beyond individual measurement and explore how these tools might deepen our understanding of human experience and social dynamics.”
