Our guest speaker this month is Emma Orton, who will talk about the work of ARCh (Assisted Reading for Children) and what they are doing to support children across Oxfordshire. A former teacher, Emma will also talk about current issues around reading in primary schools: one in three children say they don't enjoy reading for pleasure and only one in five read every day. This year is the National Year of Reading, so the perfect time to shine a spotlight on this vital skill. All welcome (men included) Free to members. £5 admission for visitors (deductible from annual subscription should you decide to enrol). Refreshments, sales table, raffle, collection point for Banbury Food Bank and blister packs. Annual member cost is £54 which includes admission to 11 meetings, discounts on our workshops and excursions, access to the WI online learning hub.
