We’ve done everything we were supposed to do. We went to law school. We got licensed. We learned how to practice. We worked hard. We became good (maybe great!) at what we do.
And somewhere along the way, like me, something inside probably changed for you, too.
Maybe you’re burned out. Maybe you’re bored. Maybe you’re successful on paper and still wondering why your career doesn’t feel the way you thought it would.
Maybe you’re asking yourself:
- Do I need to leave my firm?
- Do I need to leave law?
- What the hell am I supposed to do next?
The Work Before Courage™ is a one-day, intimate, and immersive in-person experience for women and non-binary attorneys who are ready to look at those questions differently.
Most lawyers ask whether they should leave. That's the wrong question. There's work to do before you make the big decision.
This is a day to step back from the slog and the noise and examine the things that got you here: your expectations, your professional identity, your values, your goals, the stories you've learned about what a successful lawyer is supposed to be and look like, and the ways all of those things shape the decisions you make.
We'll use teaching, reflection, writing, structured exercises, conversation, grounding, and plenty of space to think.
You'll leave with something tangible: a clearer understanding of how you got here, what matters to you now, what you actually want from your professional life, and a working hypothesis for how you make important decisions.
You do not have to decide whether you're leaving. You don't have to know what's next. You don't have to hate your job. You don't have to be falling apart. You just have to know that something in your life, your career, your brain, or your body needs your attention.
What to Expect
- An intimate room of no more than 20 people
- Teaching and perspective
- Guided reflection and writing
- Values and goal assessment
- Exploration of expectations versus reality
- Conversation with other women and non-binary attorneys
- Foundational frameworks, tools, and language for understanding your experience
- An introduction to Human Design as another lens for understanding how you make decisions
- A bound workbook to use throughout the day
This is *not* therapy. It is not legal advice. It is not a motivational seminar, conference, or day of being told to “just be brave.” It is not a day where you have to figure out your entire future.
It is the work *before* courage.
