The Wonderful Waterfront - A Walking Tour w/Monica Kile

This tour visits the breezy and beautiful waterfront to study its evolution from a gritty coastline filled with fishing boats and smokestacks to a glittering promenade teeming with tourists.

We'll learn about the waterfront parks, the history of Spring Training, and how smart design changed Beach Drive. We'll view the stunning Vinoy Hotel and the prettiest public restroom, while gaining an appreciation for how the things we don’t see anymore - like the segregated beach and the grand hotel that Hollywood blew up, have influenced our past.

THE DETAILS: One Saturday morning a month (see schedule) • 1.5 hours • 1.5 miles

This tour starts at 10:00 am and covers about 1.5 miles of flat terrain in under 2 hours. We’ll provide a bottle of cold water at the beginning of the tour that participants can carry with them. Guests also may enjoy half price on any drink from Kahwa Coffee either before or after the tour, with a voucher provided by your guide. Tickets are $25 per person and are limited to 25 attendees per tour. The tour begins at Kahwa Coffee at 204 Second Ave South in downtown St. Petersburg, and ends along the waterfront near the St. Pete Pier (about .4 mile from the tour start.)
