Specific Times
6:30 – 7:30 Children Only (approx. 7 years old or up to 5’0” tall) – Prepare 16 measures from a pre- 1970s musical
7:30 – 8:00 Families (adults see below)
8:30 – 10:00 Adults and Young Adults (this includes those wishing to audition for the role of Dorothy)
It is important that we hear your voice. We would discourage you from trying to imitate voices from the movie.
Audition requirements for specific roles are listed below in the Character Descriptions.

Callbacks will be held on 12/21/24 and will be by invitation only. Callbacks will involve reading excerpts from the script, singing, and a dance callback.
Rehearsal Information
Rehearsals will begin January 7th. The first rehearsal will consist of introductions, discussing the concept of the show, and a read through with music.
Rehearsals will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings as well as Saturday mornings.
Daily rehearsals will begin February 10th. Tech day will be February 22nd and will last most of the day.
Character Descriptions
Heritage Theatre Utah encourages diversity and inclusion in all their productions. Performers of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to audition.
PLEASE NOTE: The age ranges given are for how the character is to be portrayed. An actor does not need to be the specific ages listed.
DOROTHY GALE – (Range: G3-C5 (opt. E5) (11 to 15 years old) Please prepare a ballad from a pre 1970s musical.
AUNT EM – Emily Gale / GLINDA – The Good Witch of the North (Range: G3-C5)
UNCLE HENRY – Henry Gale / EMERALD CITY GUARD (Range: Bb2-Eb4)
The Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man may be cast gender neutral based on vocal range. prepare 16 bars of a song with big character choices from pre-1970s musical (see examples below)
ZEKE – Farmhand / COWARDLY LION (Range: Bb2-F4)
HICKORY – Farmhand / TINMAN (Range: Bb2-G4)
HUNK – Farmhand / SCARECROW (Range: Bb2-F#4 (opt. Ab4))
Glinda, Uncle Henry, Ensemble, etc (will be dancing roles) -- prepare 16 bars of a song with big character choices from pre-1970s musical (see examples below)
MISS ALMIRA GULCH / THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST – non-singing role – please prepare a one-minute comedic monologue
