Welcome to The Witches of The Blackberry Field Harvest Celebration and Autumnal Equinox Picnic. We are pleased to have you and your family, come share the day with us. We will be picking blackberries on exactly the last day of the blackberry harvest, when the next wave will come about.
Generally we'll be having a potluck picnic, and toasting the Greek God Dionysus, to give thanks for the harvest. Blackberries are commonly found in Greece, although not as prominently mentioned as grapes. Dionysus is not only the God of intoxication and wine, but mead and other alcoholic beverages. So we will be toasting with blackberry juice, and then later making mead with our blackberry harvest.
So bring a bucket, and come pick some berries with us. If you're interested in toasting mead with us at future events, then consider supporting by making a $10 donation for honey. We've made mead since the very first year of our foundation and it has become a time honoured tradition of The Blackberry Witches to continue making it every year.
We suggest bringing a picnic blanket, and fold out chairs. Don't forget your mess kit, chalice, and a lunch item to share. suggested items include:
- Sandwich wraps
- pie (please precut because it gets messy)
- donuts
- tarts
- cookies
- blackberry juice
Feel free to bring toys for the kids to keep them happy. The event is located on a major bus route. Please message Krystalynne on FB for the location. This way we keep track of everyone on our guest list, and avoid trolls. Remember to dress for Fall weather.
The Witches of The Blackberry Field, was founded in 2009 by a group of practicing Witches, and Pagans. We began with a foundation in Hellenistic magic, and now have two schools of magic in pan-Gaelic and Greco-Egyptian. We continue to teach in both schools, and have an inner circle and an outer circle of members. Our rituals are not Wiccan, and we do NOT practice skyclad, nor call quarters, preform the Five Fold Kiss, or The Great Rite. Nor do we use flogging during rituals, just to clarify as it is a common initiatory practice in Wicca. We are more Pagan, and Hermetic, and Gnostic in faith, so we're quiet a mix.
We are a pro LGBTQ, and non-binary community. All people of different cultures, races, genders, disabilities, and sexual orientation are welcomed at our events.
