The film reimagines a wacky but true episode from the Brooklyn Robins’ 1915 spring training, when an attempt to catch a baseball dropped from a biplane took a prankish turn after the ball was swapped for a grapefruit—marking the first-ever screen adaptation of the legend widely believed to have inspired the name of Florida’s Grapefruit League.
