In October of 2024, Whatabout Theatre put out a call for new board members. Unfortunately we did not get enough interest, so we voted to dissolve Whatabout Theatre. This was a tough decision for the Board to make, but we believe it is the best thing for us and for the improv community as a whole.
Please join us for a 'wake' as we say goodbye and thanks for the laughs on January 24 at 7pm at Ypsi Alehouse, located at 124 Pearl St #100, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
Come drop by and share a memory and a beverage, no need to stay for the whole time, it will be very informal. Oh, and drinks are on us!
Whatabout Theatre started in 2021 to help keep our beloved improv community together. Our mission was to create and nurture a collaborative performing arts space, guided by the community. We believe we accomplished our mission.
We began live events in September of 2022 with an improv jam. Our first show, part of the Revolving Stage production series, opened August 2023.
The Revolving Stage produced three shows total - It’s a Scream! An Improvised Horror Show (August-November 2023) directed by Ashley Davis and Manish Mishra-Marzetti, followed by Adventure’s Call: An Improvised Hero’s Journey (February-May 2024) directed by Julian Bernado, and then Home Slice (August-November 2024) directed by Jamie Artman and Jason Robbins. We hosted 23 jams, 20 improv shows, and three workshops including a DEI workshop created by Michelle Weiss and Kulkiran Nakai. And we offered classes!
