onStage at Connecticut College is proud to present THE WESTERLIES as they perform as part of our Guest Artist Series on Friday, Nov 14 at Evans Hall, Cummings Art Center!New York-based brass quartet The Westerlies perform with the precision of a string quartet, the audacity of a rock band and the charm of a family sing-along. “Skilled interpreters who are also adept improvisers” (NPR’s Fresh Air), this innovative foursome meld influences from jazz, new classical, roots and chamber music to create a sound that NPR Music praised as "folk-like and composerly, lovely and intellectually rigorous.” From Carnegie Hall to Coachella, The Westerlies are on a mission to paint new sonic landscapes with a mix of sophistication and spontaneity.
