The Weeeds are an irresistibly quirky rock n roll outfit destined for cult favorite status. They're a band that knows exactly who they are, and they've built an entire world for themselves and their music. Their albums have the energy and punk sensibility of the Clash, imbued with the feel-good nerdiness of ELO. It's radio friendly with an edge, tongue in cheek yet 100% sincere. Live audiences can't help but get swept up in Weeedsmania - the band has unsurprisingly built up quite a dedicated hometown following, which is sure to grow (like weeeds) wherever the band pops up next.
The Belle Curves is the primary creative vehicle for Troy-based singer-songwriter Delaney Hafener. A typical multi-hyphenate musician/bandleader/producer/instrumentalist, she has an atypical relationship to fame – she doesn’t want it. She doesn’t need it, and she’s not pursuing it. Delaney seeks authenticity, joy, and community through music-making. She has no choice but to write songs. Through songwriting she processes emotions and captures moments, sharing morsels of her ever-evolving worldview. Delaney mines the world for experiences to sing about like a photographer takes to the road.
A stable yet changeable crew of musicians and creatives bring Delaney’s visions to life in the studio and on stage. Delaney takes an intentional, Brian-Wilson-esque approach to making recordings and pairs it with an irreverent, raw, yet tight live show. Precise vocal harmonies, distorted electric guitar, a groovy rhythm section, and a slightly sardonic sensibility carry Hafener’s clever and melodic songwriting. Delaney draws from a deep well of American music. Traditional folk ballads, jangly power-pop, and rollicking alt-country all make themselves at home in the sound of The Belle Curves. Seeing The Belle Curves live can mean anything from Delaney performing solo with some vintage guitar in her hands to her fronting a 6-piece band and making the unique claim of being both frontwoman and bass player.
The Belle Curves have been playing regionally throughout Long Island, NYC, the Hudson Valley, and Western New York, occasionally dabbling in New England. Some notable venues they’ve had the pleasure of performing at include Colony in Woodstock NY, Skinny Dennis in Brooklyn, The Falcon in Marlboro NY, and Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor NY. They’ve enjoyed slots at regional festivals like Bradstock, Sag Harbor American Music Festival, and May Day Music Festival.
