During the 1990s, Michael Hoover won the East Coast Country Music competition as a vocalist and defeated 95 Elvis tribute artists in Memphis to win the International Elvis Tribute title prior to setting the box-office record at the Historic Masonic Theatre which was operating as the Historic Stonewall Theatre at the time.
Hoover, a long-time member of The Virginia Opry, has teamed up with Denise Glass, The Virginia Opry’s Patsy Cline tribute artist, to perform “Patsy Meets Elvis at The Virginia Opry,” a show held at the Historic Natural Bridge Hotel and Conference Center’s Washington Room where the sold-out audience gave them three standing ovations.
Hoover and Glass will pay tribute to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and Patsy Cline whose last photo that she added to her photograph album was that of Elvis just before her fatal airplane crash on her return from a charity event.
Fans may have attended a “Memories of Elvis” tribute by Hoover in Japan where he has completed three tours, or maybe they enjoyed his show in England during one of his tours there. Others may have attended his concerts in Canada or Mexico.
Maybe Elvis fans have attended one of Hoover’s “Memories of Elvis” concerts at the U.S. Olympics in Atlanta or at one of the theaters across the nation. Some may have viewed Hoover on TV on shows such as the “Roseann Barr Show.” Others may have seen Hoover perform during a Carnival Cruse.
Backed by the stellar Doug Lester Band which features professional musicians, some of whom have performed on “The Grand Ole Opry,” Hoover will perform his “Memories of Elvis” and Glass will perform hits made famous by Patsy Cline. As a special addition to their performance, Glen Shelton, Nashville recording artist for Jordash Records, will emcee the show as he did at the Washington Room and team with Hoover to perform duos before Hoover and Glass close out the show by performing duos.
