Florence based drummer and composer, Phelan Burgoyne, joins forces with Swiss rising-star pianist, Alex Ventling, in a co-led duo project entitled ‘THE VIEW’. The duo have been collaborating for 8 years since their student-days together in Basel, subsequently showcasing their music across Norway, Germany, Switzerland and New Zealand. After extensive musical development, their debut album was recorded in summer 2023, and will be released in November 2024 in a series of concerts starting in Trondheim, under Sonic Transmissions Records.The album presents a robust statement of the duo’s sound and current repertoire. The intimate and percussive interweaving of piano and drums, opens the door to a vast sound-world of possible colours and textures, giving the pair freedom and space to explore and improvise together. The connection built over years of musical friendship is unmistakable in their subtle and sensitive interplay. The resulting music speaks clearly and honestly with impressive maturity and humility.
