SYNOPSIS: The Velveteen Rabbit is a fantasy play that is enjoyable for all groups (including adults). The Velveteen Rabbit is an emotional journey through time, as told through the eyes of a young man looking back on his childhood. By reliving the relationship between his 4-year-old self and his favorite toy, the Velveteen Rabbit, he rediscovers the true meaning of friendship. Central to the story is, of course, the Velveteen Rabbit, who is introduced to the idea of becoming real by the Old Rocking Horse. The play explores the rewards of loyalty, the poignancy of loss, and the wonderful, surprising power of love.

● A complete list of any conflicts you have during the rehearsal schedule.
There can be no conflicts during tech week or performances.
Audition will consist of cold readings from the script.
CHARACTERS:
OLDER STEVE – Male, playing age: 20s. Has a lot of dialogue as the narrator as well as the character.
YOUNGER STEVE – Male, playing age: 7-8 yrs old. Should read well.
BEN – Male, playing age: 12-14 yrs old
VELVETEEN RABBIT – Any, Age: Teen to Adult. Puppeteer with dialogue
ROCKING HORSE – Any, Age: Teen to Adult.
TRAIN/RABBIT #1/TIGER – Any, Age: Teen to Adult.
Boat/Rabbit #2 – Any, Age: Teen to Adult.
FAIRY – Female, Age: Teen to Adult. Magical character.
