In the Sutrayana teachings, we speak about the two truths: the conventional truth and the ultimate truth. The conventional truth refers to the world of appearances, while the ultimate truth is the hidden nature of all phenomena, emptiness. This is the general understanding of truth in Sutrayana. In Tantrayana, we also speak about these two truths, but in a different way. The tantric view of conventional truth is the Illusory Body, and the tantric ultimate truth is the Clear Light Mind. These represent the perfect body and the perfect mind.The Vajra Body is the body that is never born, and the Clear Light Mind is the mind that never dies. The union of these two, the body that is never born and the mind that never dies, is the state of enlightenment. At the moment, however, we experience a karmic body and mind: when we are awake, we have the physical body; in dreams, we experience the dream body; and after death, we experience the intermediate state body. These three bodies arise through karmic causes, and as long as we are bound by karma, we remain in the cycle of samsara.
Through meditation and tantric practice, we can also experience three other types of body: the Mantra Body, the Wisdom Body, and the Vajra Body. The Vajra Body is the body that transcends birth and death, the body that is indestructible and free. To liberate ourselves from the karmic body and mind, we must discover and awaken this Vajra Body and the Clear Light Mind within us. At present, we are servants of our body and mind, compelled by their desires, attachments, and fears. But through the path of Kalachakra, we can free ourselves and attain the perfect, effortless, and timeless body that neither arises nor ceases.
Through the Kalachakra Tantra and the Six Yogas of Kalachakra, it is possible to realise this Diamond Body, the body that never begins and never ends. Join this retreat with Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche to learn how the Vajra Body and the Clear Light Mind lead us beyond the limits of birth and death. Guided by Rinpoche’s wisdom, we will explore how these profound teachings reveal our own indestructible nature, the perfect union of body and mind.
