The Upcycle- Casting and Crafting
About this Event
The Upcycle, created by SunRae and LoizART, is a creative series centered around slow fashion, sustainability, wearable art, and self-expression. Through collaborative workshops, fashion showcases, styling experiences, and artistic gatherings, The Upcycle encourages repairing, reimagining, and transforming materials into meaningful creations while uplifting local artists, designers, performers, and creative voices.
Its encouraged to bring any unfinished projects you're working on create in community, but this month we'll also have:
- jewlry making station (bring jewlry that needs fixing and get help from an expert)
- sewing and mending station
- clothing swap (bring 5 items max)
- casting (read below)
Throughout the series, we will be working towards producing two slow fashion events this Novemeber 2026:
1) A theartrical fashion play highlighting how our experieces withing constructs of gender, culture, identity and politics shape our experiece with our style
2) A blended fashionshow highlighting slow fashion desingeres, sustainaible art instalaitons and performances.
In July we will be hosting our casting as well as our ususal crafting activies. We are casting emerging and experieced actors, poets, dancers, models. If interested in our casting please RSVP and show up on time to the event.
