LACA to host screening of "The Untitled Beer Project" featuring Starving Artist Brewery

LUDINGTON, Mich. — The Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA) will host a special screening of "The Untitled Beer Project," a one-hour television pilot episode featuring Starving Artist Brewery, Sunday, July 12 at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7:15 p.m.

Filmed in September 2019, the pilot was created as part of a proposed television series highlighting unique breweries and the communities they serve across the United States. The episode shines a spotlight on Starving Artist Brewery, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the brewery, its story, and its connection to the local community.

According to Starving Artist Brewing owner Andy Thomas, the project was spearheaded and directed by Jason Hellmann, along with cameraman Robin Mervin and the show's host, Ryan Nelson.

"'The Untitled Beer Project' is exactly as stated—an untitled beer project aimed at highlighting what we love most: beer," said Thomas. "It's what brought you here, and it's what brings us all together."

The one-hour pilot takes viewers inside Starving Artist Brewing and explores what makes the brewery's beloved barn atmosphere so unique.

"Filmed in September of 2019, this one-hour feature pilot dives into Starving Artist Brewing and what makes its little barn tick," Thomas said. "The good and bad. The stuff. The squirrels."

The film also serves as a time capsule for the brewery and the community that helped build it.

"Viewers will see familiar faces, friends who still frequent the barn, and the team that built it," Thomas added. "Including a very special friend who is no longer with us."

This special screening provides a rare opportunity for community members to view the completed pilot on the big screen while celebrating one of Mason County's most beloved local businesses.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Seating is limited, with only 225 tickets available. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets early as the event is expected to sell out.

To enhance the experience, Starving Artist Brewery beer will be available for purchase during the event. All proceeds from ticket and beverage sales will benefit the Ludington Area Center for the Arts and help support the organization's mission to engage, inspire, and strengthen the community through arts advocacy.

"We are excited to partner with Starving Artist Brewery to bring this unique event to the community," said Andrew Skinner, Executive Director of the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. "Not only is this a chance to celebrate a local brewery and view a fascinating piece of television production history, but it is also an opportunity to support the arts right here in Ludington."

The screening will take place at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts' Bob & Kay Neal Performance Hall, located at 107 S. Harrison St. in downtown Ludington.

Advance tickets are available at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts or online at www.ludingtonartscenter.org.
