Join us for EKU Foundation Professor, Dr. Brad Wood's presentation titled"The Tucaroras and their Neighbors at War." This event is part of a guest speaker series sponsored by The EKU Society of Foundation Professors.
Early American history is filled with violence between settlers and Native peoples. This presentation focuses on one little-known episode of violence over three hundred years ago in eastern North Carolina that has become known as the Tuscarora War, after the largest group of Natives involved. Between 1711 and 1713 thousands of people tried to K*ll each other, often in dramatic and brutal ways, for reasons the made sense to them but seem senseless to us now. EKU History Professor Brad Wood will share both examples of surviving written voices from the war and his reflections on what they can tell us.
