The Tipsy Textbook: Eight Reasons to Love Wine
About this Event
As our little ones return to the classroom after the long summer holiday, we too will head back to school — though our lessons may be considerably more enjoyable.
Join us for an evening exploring how winemaking techniques can transform grapes into the wines we love. From the vibrant, fruit-driven character of carbonic maceration in Beaujolais to the complex oxidative evolution of Madeira, we’ll taste how fermentation, extraction, oxygen and maturation shape aroma, texture, acidity and structure — and how these techniques have become signatures of some of the world’s most iconic wines.
No exams, no homework, and no grades. Just plenty of wine and perhaps a few answers.
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
