In the late 19th century, the mill became notorious for a series of strange and unsettling events that are still happening to this day the unfortunate souls are tormented and do not want to leave but are also unafraid to make themselves known.
The mill is haunted by a main restless spirit of a miller who had tragically drowned in the mill's sluice. This miller had been an experienced worker, but one night, during a particularly violent storm, he was pulled into the mill's gears and drowned. His body was later found trapped within the machinery.
Following his death, workers and villager locals to date have reported a series of disturbing occurrences. Shadows were seen moving around the mill, strange noises echoed through the empty building, and people felt an unsettling presence, particularly near the sluice where the miller had drowned. Some have heard the sound of footsteps and the faint cries of a man in distress during the quietest hours of the night.
Despite various attempts to investigate or rationalize these events, the reports persisted, leading to the mill gaining a reputation as one of the most haunted sites in the region. Even today, visitors who dare to approach the old Tide Mill often report an eerie sense of being watched and sudden, inexplicable cold spots.
